Our Process
This research will involve an ecologic study intended to characterize the exposure of local people to soil, water and rice contamination in rice growing regions, and how these storms affect environmental exposures. Given the potentially transient character of the rice growing, it is necessary to do sampling as a function of time over the duration of the study. Doing so will help to identify clean water sources that are most resilient to contamination, and help identify populations most affected by contamination so that mitigation can be properly targeted. We expect to continue monitoring as part of a longer-term surveillance study to monitor water quality over time.
