Environmental Risk Assessment
Health hazards due to environmental contaminations in the developing countries are of great concern. Soil and water pollution have impacted on food safety which represents an important threat to human health. Poor infrastructure of surface water irrigation has led to the use of groundwater and wastewater irrigation for agricultural production. In some parts of Cambodia, this has caused serious agricultural land and food pollution, in particular for arsenic and other trace elements. Poor management and control of pesticides and little awareness on their health impacts could cause public health concern among Cambodian populations and affect on the economic growth.
WIL uses risk assessments to characterize the nature and magnitude of health risks to humans and ecological receptors from chemical contaminants and other stressors that may be present in the environment. Environmental risk assessments can be considered among one of the following :
Human Health Risk
Ecological Risk
Water Innovation Lab in collaboration with our local partners has conducted human health risk assessment of chemical contaminants through drinking water pathway of inhabitants in basin areas of the Tonle Sap Great Lake. For any inquiry, please contact us through email: research@wil-kh.com
